is one of the World’s largest manufacturers of lead-acid batteries.
The company’s two global business units (GBU) – Industrial energy and
Transportation, provide a comprehensive range of stored electrical
energy products and service.
SERVING INDUSTRY
Industrial Energy comprises of network power applications such as telecommunications,
electric utilities, railroads, photovoltaic ( solar-power related) and uninterruptible power
supply (UPS); and motive-power applications for a broad range of equipment uses including fork lift trucks,
floor cleaning and materials handling equipment.
Transportation batteries and starting and operating vehicles are supplied to the automotive O.E. and
aftermarket segments throughout North America, Australia, India and Europe. The range covers:

QUALITY PERFORMANCE
Product performance and quality are key to Exide’s success in delivering first
class products. Exide’s EXCELL ( Exide’s Customer-focused Excellence
In addition, it incorporates best practices to improve product quality, workspace safety and regulatory compliance.
Employee Lead Quality Continuous Improvement Teams have been established in most of the
major productions facilities to focus on quality, product/process improvement and raising standarts within this area.
Most of the major production facilities are approved under ISO/TS16949, QS9000 or equivalent quality standarts.
Also the ISO14001 certification has been obtained at eight of manufacturing plants.

Not only does Exide supply all the major vehicle manufactures but has
a strong presence within the IndependentAftermarket throught primary customers such as
battery specialist, OEM dealer networks, hypermarkets, service installers, buying groups
and oil companies. These aftermarket customers can draw on Exide’s wealth of global experience
and knowledge to enhance and competitively position their local businesses.
MANUFACTURING
Having thirteen automotive manufacturing plants worldwide, Exide can easily satisfy the just-in-time damands at both
O.E. and aftermarket levels. Seven plants are strategically placed in Europe with two dedicated plants equipped
to produce unique battery technologies like GEL and MAXXIMA.
The majority of lead required is obtained from six recycling plants however, in Europe lead is principally
obtained from third party suppliers.
SPACE MANAGEMENT
Two different sized Battery Space Management Units have been designed to provide small to
medium sized stockists, a tidy and effective visual selling tool that can be ideally placed within their premises.
The Pro-6 and Pro-10 systems are also space management units and can include an integrated refreshing component
that helps keep the battery “BATTERY FRESH”

| A corporate responsibility to the environment and towards the preservation of the
earth’s resources is at the heart of Exide’s business. This is shown throught various battery collection programmes,
where Exide recovers and recycles through its own smelting and plastic production, 95% of all lead, acid and plastic.
In addition, all production plants incorporate the latest production techniques to create a safe and healthy

TECHNICAL TRAINING |
Battery Testing
A comprehensive battery testing cource for technicians, designed to show how to accurately test a battery
with a voltmeter, discharge tester, hydrometer and correctly interpret test results.
Also included is advice on how to record test findings on a 5-Point Battery Testing Plan and analyse emerging
patterns to determine whether the battery is fit for service or nearing the end of its life.
